Oregon Trip 2005 - Oregon Coast - Florence area
![]() |
Sunday morning, Oct. 2, we awoke to rain again but headed on down the coast towards the town of Florence and the Jesse M. Honeyman State Park. (No 22 on map) We stopped at several state parks and viewpoints along the way, including those around Yachats, and visited another lighthouse. This time the light beacon was lit and looked really beautiful. On spectacular area near Yachats was the rocky coast where there were some blowholes. We watched them for a while. It was really windy and gusty, and sometimes there were rain squalls. We arrived at the Jesse M. Honeyman State Park before lunchtime and set up the trailer and had lunch. All around us there were other campers with ATVs and dune Buggies with which there zipped all over the sand dunes there. We seemed to be the odd ones out at that place since we were the only ones that didn't have an ORV (off road vehicle). So we went to the dunes area and to the beach and into the town of Florence to see some more galleries and for Yoshiko to shop a bit. She bought a new pullover top with lighthouses embroidered on it. For dinner that night we had pizza (Trader Joes with extra toppings). It was good. |
