COLORADO TRIP - 2001

8/27/01 (Monday) - Breckenridge to Rocky Mountain National Park to Ft. Collins

We left Breckenridge at 9 am and drove about 95 miles to Grand Lake, just on the western edge of Rocky Mtn. N.P.

We found a great NFS campsite right by Shadow Mtn. Lake with an outstanding view of Rocky Mtn. National Park.  $6 / nite

After lunch we packed up some clothes & food and headed out over the park and eventually to Ft. Collins where we spent the night with my friend Bill Lightfoot.  We stopped at all the scenic turnouts along the way and saw some beautiful and breathtaking views.  I'm sure glad I wasn't pulling the trailer with me tho.

Here we are at the top of Rocky Mountain National Park. The views were broad and sweeping.

The wild flowers were still out. Yoshiko is standing at the overlook of Estes Park below.

We saw a small herd of elk resting and grazing.

We got to Bill's house a about 5:30 pm and he was preparing a nice BBQ dinner for us (hamburgers and corn on the cob)

We had a delightful evening visiting with Bill and went to be at about 11 pm. Unfortunately, we were too busy visiting and I neglected to take any photos at Bill's home.
