COLORADO TRIP - 2001

8/28/01 (Tuesday) - Fort Collins to Rocky Mountain National Park

We left Bill's home at about 9 am, stopped at a JiffyLube place for truck service.  I needed and oil change & lube, but more importantly, I had experienced some engine surges the afternoon before, so I had the fuel filter changed as well.

Anyway, we got going at 10 am and all was well with the truck.  It was a beautiful day and we had a delightful drive back through the park and back to camp.  We took a few short hikes to some scenic spots and had a nice picnic lunch at the top of the mountain.  Also saw a nice herd of elk at the top.

Yoshiko is preparing to sketch one of the waterfalls we found on one of our hikes.

Back at the trailer we caught the tail end of a shower, but it quickly cleared and we had a delightful happy hour (cheese & crackers, peanuts, etc.) by the edge of the lake and watched the lighting change on the Rocky Mountains beyond.  Will return there for dinner and to watch the sunset.

Steve is enjoying the view of Grand Lake and the Rocky Mountains from our campsite.
