Mackinac Island is a summer place for the wealthy. It is also a Michigan state parkand a pleasant place for the not-so-wealthy to visit as well. There are no motor vehicles (other than snowmobiles) on the island. There is wide use of horses and carriages as well as bicycles.
There are many shops, restaurants, hotels and B&Bs to accommodate the tourists. It is a delightful place to visit and the pace there is quite relaxing.
